LOUIS DURO
Author
Born in New York City, Lou felt he was destined to become a writer ever since receiving a toy printing press at the age of eight, which inspired him to write and publish the Bayside News, which he then hawked for five cents to surrounding neighbors.
Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and began his writing career in earnest, completing courses from The Naval School of Journalism and writing for several armed forces publications.
After his discharge, Lou resided in Rhode Island and studied journalism and creative writing first at the University of Rhode Island, before returning to NYC and transferring to New York University. At the same time, he was employed as a cub reporter for William Randolph Hearst’s flagship newspaper, The New York Journal-American, the country's largest afternoon daily, learning his craft alongside such acclaimed journalists as Jimmy Breslin, Dorothy Kilgallen, and noted sports writer and broadcaster Stan Fischler. When the Journal-American folded, along with several other Manhattan dailies, he became the city reporter for the Long Island Press, and was honored in 1967 by receiving New York City’s Best Spot News Story of the Year award. In 1969 he left the failing newspaper field and became a public relations executive, first for The Long Island Rail Road as Broadcast Relations Manager and then as an account supervisor for Grey Advertising.
During this period Lou wrote his critically acclaimed poetry book, the sadness of happy times, which sold more than 40,000 copies through major outlets such as B. Dalton, Brentano's and Waldenbooks.
In 1973 Lou opened his own marketing and advertising agency, The LKD Group, with several subsidiaries of Gulf & Western among his clients. He “retired” in 1985 to pursue his writing career full time on the Greek island of Crete with his Greek-American wife, Sofia.
Lou's fiction, poetry, magazine articles, and news stories have appeared in numerous publications in the United States, Greece, and Great Britain. His published literary works include the iconic 1950s coming-of-age novel, Be Bop A Lula, as well as the perennial-selling free verse poetry book, the sadness of happy times. Other published books include If You've Ever Loved a Married Man and On The Road to Here.

Leon A. Walker
Author
Leon A. Walker has appreciated books all of his life, both as a form of enjoyment and also as a collector. No doubt some of this reading pleasure was instilled by his father, who possessed a deep affinity for literature and who, from the author’s earliest memories, read and regularly quoted everything from Chaucer and Kipling to Hughes and Baldwin to him and his siblings. Mr. Walker found himself reading and writing for entertainment purposes from a very young age. Later he began to dabble in poetry and he continued to write creatively on and off for years but he never shared any of those works. Many were not preserved and are now lost. He has twice lived abroad and traveled extensively, and before the advent of wireless email and cellular phones, it was his mother who frequently commented on the creative and unusually descriptive nature of his letters. It was this personal input that encouraged and further fueled his writing endeavors.
Over a long and varied professional career, he was compelled to write a great deal on a broad cross-section of topics. What very few actually knew, was that he tremendously enjoyed writing. Nor did they know of the passion he felt when creating written works. It should be no surprise then, that he had intended to write a book for many years. His first two books, Work Wonders and Life Lines simply presented the first publishing opportunities because he had so much completed material on hand. His third book Equinox is an anthology which contains many previously unpublished works.
Mr. Walker continues to write various forms of creative literature and he collaborates with artists and photographers worldwide on a variety of artistic images. He has also served as a judge of the “Indie Next Generation Book Awards” for the past seven years. He has previously worked as a public and private sector business executive (in the aviation and maritime industries) and he is a retired United States Naval Officer. He is a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, having earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Professional Aeronautics. A member of the Screen Actors Guild, he currently resides in Southern California where he continues to explore many creative pursuits.
