D.S. Kinahan
Author
D.S. Kinahan showed promise as a writer at an early age, winning an SPCA-sponsored essay contest while in the seventh grade. Choosing a drastically disparate career path later in life, she spent more than thirty years working as a federal auditor at offices in New York, Massachusetts, and New Mexico.
Once retired and living in Nevada, Ms. Kinahan found herself spending way too much time and money at the casinos. She decided to take a much larger gamble and started writing again. Her debut book, "Love, Despair and Other Heartaches", was published in 2018 and followed in short order by four other novels ("Wandering Towards Normal", "My Zestful Years", "The Last Two Thousand Miles", and "Fervid Frenzy"). All five follow the life and loves of a female CPA with the wallop of some sizzling, steamy sex scenes that would make Sin City proud.
Her latest work, “The Former Mrs. Good Girl”, tells the story of a woman whose spiritual faith falters after she discovers her husband is a compulsive cheater. Since always walking the straight and narrow got her nowhere, she decides to throw caution to the wind and tap into her wild side. As her morals begin to spiral out of control, she learns the hard way that her choices can result in serious consequences.
D.S. Kinahan’s work can be best described as graphic (think “slutty”) chick lit. Her hope is to dispel the myth that accountants are boring, prim, and proper individuals. It’s a very select audience who enjoys this genre. Are you one of them? I'm a Native American writer, born in and raised around San Antonio; deeply rooted in and now live in the
heart of Texas. My life is centered around God, my family and—as I affectionately refer to fiction writing as
"telling lies." After all, isn't that what we, as fiction writers, endeavor to do? We craft intricate
worlds, breathe life into characters, and then spoon-feed them to our readers, hoping they lose themselves, if
only momentarily, in the fabricated realities we create as they forget about life for a while.
I have an unwavering love for reading and cinema, each book I devour unfolding like a film in my mind. Vivid
and animated. I love watching movies. When reading a book, I expect it to come alive for me on the pages;
unravelling much like a movie in my mind. When I write, I strive to transpose the cinematic tapestry of my
imagination onto paper. Two novels I penned in the 1980s underwent a transformation into screenplays in the
1990s and were recently reimagined into the novels now available online. While the essence remains, the
narratives have evolved, reflecting the experiences and perspectives of the past two decades. Writing has been a companion of mine since my teenage years, a constant amidst life's ebb and flow. My life's
journey led me to start my own catering business which I ran for sixteen years, briefly sidelining my literary
pursuits. Then, with the encouragement of my husband fellow writer friends, I reclaimed my pen, breathed newlife into my manuscripts and rekindled my love for writing. And—I haven't stopped!
For over three decades, the characters conceived in my mind have lingered and grown, yearning to be shared with
the world. It’s time their stories unravel on the blank canvas, and it’s time for readers to experience the
emotional tapestry they weave. If my tales invoke laughter, tears, and a myriad of emotions, then I will have
succeeded as a writer.
And this journey, rich with promise and potential, is just beginning…
