Mood & Emotion Books Character & Plot

Alexis karpouzos (Greek : Αλέξης καρπούζος) was born in Athens on April 9, 1967, after attending philosophy and social studies courses at the Athens School of Philosophy and political science courses at the Athens Law School, he continued his studies in psychoanalysis and the psychology of learning. During his studies in Greece he has actively involved in the social, ecologic and occupancy movements. At the same time (starting in 1990), he met Cornelius Castoriadis an Greek-born philosopher and attended his lectures and lessons He was influenced by Castoriadis' attempt to connect philosophy with psychoanalysis and politics in order to gain a new perspective on some of the problems of society during his time. In 1995 he met with Kostas Axelos and was inspired by his post-philosophical thinking and his central concepts, such as the concepts of the play. As with so many mystics, Alexis karpouzos intuitively know the oneness of cosmic creation and historic humanity as part of all that is and all there isn't. So, the originality of Alexis Karpouzos thought is that it crosses the most diverse fields, the most opposing philosophies, to unite them into an often contradictory and broken whole. Marx and Heidegger, Nietzsche, Freud and Heraclitus, poets and political theorists all come together in the same distance and the same unusual proximity. Alexis karpouzos use Pre-Socratics philosophy and generally the ancient Greek philosophy, as well as the pre-philosophical thinking of The Upanishads, the Vedas and Buddhism in India, of Lao Tzu, of Zen Buddhism and the Taoist tradition in China, of the Arab mystics and poets, with their metaphysical religiosity as the metaphysical basis for the interpretation and understanding of the world and existence. At the same time the ancient metaphysics is connect with Hegel’s dialectical ontology and with the modern thinking of Marx, Nietzsche, Freud, Heidegger, and others as the interpretive context for understanding the central problems of the technical and scientific world during his time. Novalis, Hölderlin, Rimbaud, Whitman, Eliot and others show the dreamy nature of existence, the transcendence of the Cosmos, welcome the infinity.

I grew up near Lake Erie in northwestern Pennsylvania in the late 1960s and early 1970s. I am retired and reside in south-central Pennsylvania, living in Amish country. Like any young boy, I was always captivated by knights in shining armor and Camelot. I had a love for history and anything medieval. And a couple of trips to Europe only stoked that flame.

With retirement providing loads of free time, I started writing books to keep myself busy and my mind active. With my love for medieval history always present, I began stories centering on the Middle Ages, trying to take well-known legends and myths and add a new twist.

Sprinkled with historical facts, I hope my stories will entertain, educate, and allow you to escape the real world, if only for a few hours.

London, 1913. It has been twenty-five years since the horrific crimes of Jack the Ripper shook the city to its core. Now, a new era of scientific progress and women's suffrage has replaced the Victorian age. Horse-drawn carriages are being replaced by motorized vehicles, but the fog still blankets the city, and the East End is still plagued by crime, poverty, and depravity.

London finds itself once again amid a savage murder spree, even more depraved than Jack's. Albert Wiggins, the former leader of Sherlock Holmes's Baker Street Irregulars, is now a CID Detective Inspector leading the hunt for the killer. Along with Sergeant Jem Pyke, a war hero and prize-fighter, they must not only confront the Beast but also the sadistic Crime Lord known as Mr King and the mysterious Russian demon conjurer Luca Radasiliev.

Supporting them in their quest are London's richest and most enigmatic man, Dutch leper and scientific visionary Dante Van Hoon, and the legendary adventurer Doctor John H. Watson. Wiggins is surrounded by a diverse and eclectic cast of characters from London's criminal underworld.

I grew up in Dorchester Massachusetts, which is a town outside of Boston, and on a street that was just across the Dorchester Municipal Court. Up until that time when I was a few years younger, I spent my time playing with the boys and my brothers in the neighborhood, because I was the only girl willing to play football and baseball with the gang. I didn’t really want to spend my time with dolls and such, since the boys were having much more fun, than spending the day playing house with the other two girls in my neighborhood. Oh I spent a day or two doing what they wanted to do, but it was boring to me so I opted to throw a football or baseball and even climb trees if the boys would let me join them. In those days it was what one would call a “tomboy”. This went on for a few years until I was sixteen, and that was when my father told me I couldn’t play with the boys anymore. When I asked why, he only said, ask your mother. This all came about when one of the “gang” asked my brother if he could date me. That’s when Dad stepped in and said no more. When I again asked why, he only shook his head and said, because. When I asked my oldest brother why Dad forbade me from playing with the boys any longer, he said that the “gang” was looking at me more as a girl than a “boy” and that’s was why. Since I couldn’t play with the boys any longer, my only outlet was books. I soon discovered that books opened up a new avenue to me. I could go to faraway places with strange sounding names from the books I took from the shelf in my father’s library.
