Shaun's debut novel is set in a meticulously crafted world divided into two continents: Nordinium and the Southlands. Nordinium, inspired by ancient Northern Europe, is characterized by its harsh winters and rugged terrain, which shape the resilient and warlike culture of its inhabitants. In contrast, the Southlands, inspired by Northern Africa, features vast fertile grasslands and gentle forests, fostering a vibrant and settled way of life amongst its races.

Resistance - Chaos - Tol's Bane delves into the epic struggle between the oppressed and their invaders, with a storyline deeply influenced by the contrasting environments of its setting. Key characters include Martyn the Tinker, whose dubious reputation often threatens to overshadow his role, Devon of the Dinni, the tiny forest dweller with a significant destiny, and Lady Hel, heir to the occupied Duchy of Sudhem, known for her fierce opposition to the Brocken Invaders.

Throughout my journey of healing from long-term narcissistic abuse, I embarked on a quest to find meaning and purpose once again. As a survivor of narcissistic abuse, I began to see the value in sharing my story and connecting with others who were overcoming similar challenges.

I have survived so many things - domestic violence, abduction, sexual assault, being the sibling in a family of child sexual assault, sex work, systemic racism - the list goes on. What I have learned is that there is always a way for me to find empowerment from my experience that lifts me and that I can share with others. That's the reason for this 1st book in my autobiographical series; I've got to be able to see the empowerment from the grief, hurt, and loss. And there's nothing more empowering for me than to see others soar from what I share. "This is for the Other Child" is just the beginning. 

Joseph Descans is an accomplished author known for his book “Hosea: The Prophet Who Married a Prostitute.” Born on June 24, 1964, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Joseph moved to San Diego, California, with his mother and younger sister after his parents divorced. He graduated from Torrey Pines High School in 1982 and later earned a BA in literature from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2000.

Joseph is a single father of four children—Lily, Giuseppe, Abraham, and Hezekiah—and enjoys a variety of hobbies, including surfing, snowboarding, and fishing. He is a freelance writer, inspiring speaker, editor, business coach, contractor, certified arborist, and former professional surfer. His diverse career and personal experiences enrich his storytelling, making his work both engaging and insightful.

I spent the days of my adult life as a corporate drone. The evenings of my early adulthood were spent in San Francisco looking for my Prince Charming when gay pride was emerging, and disco was about to rule the dance floors. Witnessing the changing culture in the city, as well as the surprising acceptance, I was still there when the shadow fell over the city. First it was the murders at City Hall, then the scourge of an illness where the parties were replaced by memorials.

One thing I learned through it all is that life goes on and memories endure. It took twenty years to find that wonderful Prince Charming I longed for, and now, after nearly twenty years together, we have taken early retirement in Mexico, allowing me to spend time on the two most important things I value in life, my family and writing. Instead of writing after work and on the weekends, I can now write whenever inspiration strikes me.

I have always enjoyed writing, everything from short stories to poetry. My latest novel, "Damnation & Redemption" is far different from my previous works. This one is also a romance novel, but it shares the plot with several other dramatic elements. It is told in the first person, and the main character is a vampire, but not of the standard variety. I have given him quite a few twists compared to the traditional genre. He carries some of the traits shown in the current BBC Dracula miniseries.

The story takes place in the current day, in the southwest United States. I believe it is one of my most entertaining stories due to some of the extremes it tends to reach. Along with romance there, is dark humor, a dangerous criminal element, a slight touch of the supernatural, brief moments of gore, some sex, a little dab of scifi, and, as with all my stories, a Happily Ever After!

My previous novel, 'An Unexpected Gift', is set in San Francisco in the late seventies and early eighties. ‘It is about the changing times in the city, and an average couple who find their life impacted by events around them and can no longer stand by hoping for change. It is also about the city at that time. Well known for its acceptance of diversity just as it is today. I hope you will enjoy it.

I enjoy writing romances. It is important that my stories have relatable characters. These stories will always contain a happily ever after ending, as that is what I enjoy when I read. My fourth novel was a departure from the first three in that it was historical fiction, and I found it to be an exciting project. "A Woman of Quiet Strength" was influenced by my late grandmother. A woman who had a difficult youth and grew to become the guiding influence of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
